Privacy Policy

We do not ask you to create an account, we do not run a newsletter, and we do not sell anything directly. The only personal information we hold is what you type into the contact form, and the only tracking is standard website analytics.

That is the complete list. There is no account system, no newsletter, no comment section and no user profile, so there is nothing else to hold.

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people read and which links they use. It sets cookies and collects the usual aggregate information: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device type, and how you arrived.

We use it for one purpose: working out which pages are worth updating. We do not build profiles of individuals and we have no way to connect analytics data to a person who has contacted us.

If you would rather not be counted, browser privacy settings, tracking-blocking extensions and Google's own opt-out browser add-on all work, and the site functions normally without analytics.

Buy links on this site pass through an internal address before redirecting to a retailer, and they carry a tracking parameter so the retailer can attribute a purchase to us. That is how the site is paid for, and it is set out in full on the affiliate disclosure page.

Once you arrive at a retailer you are on their site under their privacy policy, which we do not control. We never see what you bought, what you paid or who you are — the retailer reports totals, not people.

We do also record, in our own analytics, that a buy link was clicked and which one. That is a page-level event with no personal information attached.

• Vercel hosts the site and processes standard server request data.
• Google Analytics provides the analytics described above.
• Microsoft delivers contact form messages by email.
• Amazon receives you when you follow a buy link, under its own privacy policy.
• Open Library supplies the book data used to build the site. That happens when the site is built, not when you visit, so no visitor information reaches them.

We do not sell or share personal information with anybody else, and there is no advertising network on this site.

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be deleted, or ask us to stop processing it. Email info@marginandmuse.com and we will deal with it. In practice, unless you have used the contact form there is very little to find.

This site is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, tell us and we will delete it.

If this policy changes materially, the updated date at the top of this page changes with it. There is no mailing list to notify, which is itself a consequence of how little we collect.
